The Gluttony vs. Satchel of Gravel, Part Two

April 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Satchel of Gravel is one my favorite websites. They are not afraid to call it how they see it. The streetwear industry has gotten a little out of control. Satchel of Gravel brings a breath of fresh air into the blog driven streetwear world.

No one knows who is behind the site. Till now…

We had a chance to site down with one of the peeps responsible for the site in The Gluttony vs. Satchel of Gravel, Part 1.

The Gluttony vs. Satchel of Gravel, Part Two

TG: What’s the point of doing a site like Satchel of Gravel?
S: To make a $140.

TG: Who in the streetwear world would you like to have blog for Satchel of
Gravel?
S: The one individual who’s better at Street Fighter 2 than me.

TG: Would you ever run advertising on Satchel of Gravel?
S: Yes, if the right company approached us.

TG: What’s your take on what’s happening in youth culture right now? There
seems to be a lot that of big brands trying to capitalize off of
subcultures. Is it effective?
S: There’s a lot of reaching going on it’s transparent. When KFC has a
hip-hop mixtape with a “community” theme and Kellog’s cereal has a
clothing line that’s trying to ride the skate lifestyle, you know there’s
a problem.

TG: A lot of “old school” brands made come backs recently. What brand
should have never came back?

S: Terminator. Just when you though that they couldn’t mess up worse than
T3, they go and do the Sara Connor Chronicles.

TG: What brand would you like to never see again? What brand do you want
to see more from?
S: Brand I’d never like to see again: Axe Body Spray.
Brand I’d like to see more from: Tofutti.

TG: Will Perez Hilton have a limited edition DUNK in the near future?
S: That’s a question for Nike. But if he does get one, then it better come
with a white marker so you can doodle white drips on it.

TG: Do you have any final words to the brands/people/topics covered on
Satchel of Gravel or DBTHB?
S: Contrary to what it says on the sales receipt, dissent is actually the
highest form of flattery.
