Pineapple express Billboard with massive smoking (pot leaf)… Suspect.

California recently passed a law which made it a requirement to use hands free device when operating a car because using a mobile phone is a distraction.  Less distractions should result fewer accidents.  Right?  All this is good expect the fact that in LA there are these new billboard signs.  Some are LED, they can have multiple adds on rotation opposed to the old school billboards.  To me this is a huge distraction.  Now there are massive flat screen televisions on the side of the road. For what? To see the latest movie adds or even better a 24 hour Christian Audigier (Melrose and Fairfax)

The only difference I see here is money and big business.  Of course its ok to have massive revenue generating TV (billboards on the side of the road) because some old rich guy is making loot from it.  Right?  But talking on your phone while driving, well there is no way to profit on that.  Well not exactly because if you make it a law that everyone has to purchase blue tooth/hands free devices, there is money to be made.  Do not forget about the money collected on tickets for violating the blue tooth law  See, it all boils down to money.

All of this spawned from some buddies telling me about the smoking billboard on the corner of Sunset and Laurel canyon blvd.  Possible one of the busiest intersections in all of LA.  How is this not a distraction?  Your thoughts?  Oh yea, make sure you wear your bluetooth while you drive.  Safety First.  haha.

See the Billboard in Action…

I saw a toyota prius “bus stop” ad at balboa and victory. It lights up and colors move around. It distracted me.
